ABBYY Lingvo tray icon
Why is a tray icon necessary?
- The tray icon allows you to quickly launch ABBYY Lingvo or get it on top of other windows by simply clicking the tray icon.
- Using the tray icon you can easily configure quick lookup. Just right-click the tray icon and use the dropdown menu.
- The appearance of the tray icon lets you see:
- if ABBYY Lingvo is running;
- if online dictionaries are used in translation.
Enabling or disabling the tray icon
Choose Tools→Options…→General. Check the option Place ABBYY Lingvo icon in system tray.
If the icon is ginger ()
ABBYY Lingvo is not running, but you can use full lookup — the application will launch automatically when you press Ctrl+Ins+Ins or Crtl+C+C.
To launch ABBYY Lingvo click the tray icon.
If the icon is crimson, but has no globe on it ()
ABBYY Lingvo is running, but your online dictionaries are not used in translation. This can happen for two reasons.
- There is no connection to the Internet or Lingvo server.
- The option Get online dictionary entries only when I click a link is enabled.
For your online dictionaries to be always used in translation, choose Tools→Options…→Online Translation and check the option Always get translations from online dictionaries.always
If you can see the tray icon with a globe ()
ABBYY Lingvo is running and your online dictionaries are used in translation.
To disable automatic use of online dictionaries in translation, choose Tools→Options…→Online Translation and check the option Get online dictionary entries only when I click a link.
